Emilie was born in Paris and studied dance at Rosella Hightower’s ballet academy in Cannes. In 2000, she joined the Jeune Ballet International company, where she performed classical and contemporary works by choreographers including Balanchine, Brumachon and Preljocaj. Emilie later returned to Paris, where she completed her training as a ballet teacher.
After several years of dancing, she met her husband, the juggler Menno van Dyke. Together they developed the act Juggling Tango, in which juggling and dance blend seamlessly. Since 2007, they have been performing to great acclaim in circus productions, variety theatres and festivals all over the world. They have won awards at festivals in Moscow, China and Paris. In 2018, during a performance at Carré, they received the Oscar Carré Trophy, the Dutch lifetime achievement award for circus arts.
In 2022, as ‘Artist of the Year’ at TENT, the home of contemporary circus, Emilie made her directorial debut with Be Kind, a circus theatre performance for very young children. Be Kind has been touring the world ever since and was on.
