The reconquest of attention
In the so-called attention economy, attention is crucial, to is a resource, an instrument of power and of wealth. In this short talk I will explore this use of attention and the power its control gives. Next I will argue that this economy fundamentally undermines true attention and what we need to consider if we want to reconquer this central human faculty.
Be Kind – Circus Theatre for the Little Ones
Be Kind is a unique circus performance for babies that created by circus artist and director Emilie Weisse in collaboration with developmental scientist Sabine Hunnius. Inspired by research on how babies perceive and explore the world, this award-winning performance combines circus, dance, music, and playful surprise into an immersive theatrical experience for infants and their caregivers. Through acrobatics, object play, sensory exploration, and interactive moments, the performance invites babies to marvel and discover. At the same time, it encourages adults to see the world through the eyes of a child again. A joyful encounter between science and art that celebrates curiosity, wonder, and the right of even the youngest audience members to experience the performing arts. Since its creation in 2022, Be Kind has reached families in more than 12 countries around the world through over 200 live performances.
